Ohrid Walk Tour

The Ohrid Walk Tour is the best way to discover the town of Ohrid from prehistoric and classical times known as Lyhnidos - city of Light. It was the major centre of southern Slav learning in 10th century.

We will visit St.Sophia cathedral temple of Ohrid archbishops the large and most magnificent preserved monument of church architecture with frescoes from 11th century.

We will visit the Antic theatre from 3rd century B.C. in Varos and St. Holy Virgin Peribleptos - the extraordinary architecture and stunning paintings which dates from 1925, one of the most significant medieval monument in Macedonia. The frescoes are works of medieval painters Michael and Eutyhchios. The Gallery of icons - one of the most valuable in the world with collection of icons created 11th-14th centuries.

We will make a tour in The Samuel's Fortress 3km long and dominates the town built by tsar Samoil 10th century. Early Christian basilica probably built and decorated in 5th century when Lihnidos was important Early Christian Episcopical centre.

We continue in Plaosnik St. Panteleimon and St.Clement first church was built in 893 and it was a first Slavic university. The church include St.Clements's tomb.

At the end we visit St. Jovan Kaneo which dates from 13th century, a favorite symbol of Ohrid standing alone on the lakeshore on a cliff with magnificent views.
